General Information

The official fan zone will be created in order to ensure a wide access of Kharkiv citizens and city guests to the observation of the matches of the European championship 2012 on football in Kharkiv on Svobody square – the main city square. It occupies 27 787, 5 m2 and is located in the city center on the crossing of the main highways and routes of the city transport. The future fan zone will cover 22 500 m2. Mass events are always held on Svobody square, which are dedicated to national and city holidays among which there are: the New Year, the Victory Day, the Graduation Day, the Children’s Day, the Day of liberation of Kharkiv from fascist invaders and the City Day. Moreover the concert programs are held there.

The bright example was the concert of group “Queen”, which has joint around 300 thousand spectators on the square.

The goal of fan zone functioning consists in giving all the comers an opportunity to feel the atmosphere of a football event and to review the Championship matches on the big screen together with other fans. The fans which have no possibility to visit the stadium will be able to observe the matches Euro 2012 on the square. It can accommodate up to 45 000 fans.

The fan zone will be working during all the championship – from the 8th of June till the 1st of July 2012.

The official fan zone is created in accordance with principles, described in marketing recommendations for the host cities. The scene, equipped with a big screen for match translations (16m x 8m) will be located near the “Kharkiv” hotel. Two more screens (6m x 4m) will be set up from both sides of the scene. On the territory of the fan zone there will be catering points, drinks and Tournament souvenirs, 3 points of medical aid, 250 toilets, including those for disabled, 15 garbage containers, checkrooms, informational points for fans and other. The fan zone is going to be provided with power – and water supply, water disposal. Wi-Fi zone will also be available.

For provision with fans’ security the territory within fan zone will be fenced around with metal vandal-steady constructions 2,2 m high, which are easy in collecting and disassembling. Three main entrances and 1 entrance to VIP zone, equipped with checkrooms, informational stand with fan zone planning, etc. are provided. Also there are going to be 5 exits out of the fan zone, 8 evacuation exits and 3 transport entrance-exits.
